Wichtige Aktuelle Informationen zum Streik der Hafenarbeiter
1.Oktober 2024
US$/EUR 1,11

Important News cocerning the Port Strike Situation:
October 4, 2024
The
International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) and the United States
Maritime Alliance (USMX) have reached an agreement, and workers have
agreed to return to work.
While this is positive news, please be aware of the following considerations:
- Recovery and Cleanup: Due to the three-day strike, it is expected that it will take 2-3 weeks to return to normalized operations.
- Terminal Congestion: Expect delays and congestion at the terminals as operations resume.
- Visibility: We encourage our customers to use seaexplorer.com for real-time vessel tracking, alerts, and insights.
Market Report Almonds – October 1, 2024
US$/EUR 1.11
There are increasing reports and comments regarding a potential strike by longshoremen on the East Coast of the USA. In the meantime, it seems that shippers of various agricultural commodities have already started shifting their goods towards the West Coast, with the focus apparently on Los Angeles/Long Beach. This has led to shipping companies skipping subsequent ports (San Francisco/Oakland) due to vessels being fully loaded. Even in cases where the following ports are served, overbookings and the so-called "rolling" of booked containers, as well as equipment shortages, are to be expected. This situation is further complicated by already reduced capacities and possible changes due to the new cooperation between Maersk and Hapag Lloyd. A strike seems very likely, as the positions of the unions and terminal operators are significantly different. Significant delays are expected!
